Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 Cycling has been a major part of my life since I was a little girl. I started racing when I was ten. It taught me numerous important life lessons, made me travel around the world. I've had the privilege to be working for many years with different professional teams and now, I just simply love riding when I can, doing century rides or riding to the ice cream store with my boys. When I heard the story below, I just couldn't believe how terrible it was. This could happen to any of us riding down a mountain, it could happen to me. If you can, please take a moment to donate something to Phil and his family. To read what happened, click here. Thank you, DONATE HERE. Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 A must read: The truth about cancer and essential oils: what no oncologist will tell you. (Article written by Dawn Hall) Did you know that a healthy body typically has a frequency ranging from 62 to 78 MHz, and that diseases begin at 58Hz? That holding a cup of coffee can drop your frequency from 66 Hz to 58 MHz in just 3 seconds and that it can take up to three days to return to normal? Did you know that some essential oils can stop diseases and cancer from spreading? Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils* begin at 52 and go as high as 320 MHz. Here are a few examples: Frankincense 147 MHz, Lavender 118 MHz, German Camomile 105 MHz, Juniper 98 MHz, Sandalwood 96 MHz, Peppermint 78 MHz. The article mentions that breast cancer cells are mostly destroyed by cinnamon, thyme, chamomile and jasmine oils, with chamomile killing up to 93% of them in vitro. Even more effective was thyme oil, which led to a 97% kill rate of the MCF-7 breast cancer cells. *To be effective only 100% pure therapeutic grade quality essential oils must be used. PS. My clients are lucky since I use doTerra Essential Oils every time I see them:) Myriam Desrosiers, LMT - Therapeutic Massage

Myriam Desrosiers, LMT - Therapeutic Massage Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 You could be surprised! Certain health insurance plans cover massage therapy. I currently accept Anthem insurance clients, but if you are covered by a different company and massage is included in your plan, let me know and I will look into working with your insurance company also. On a funny note, in October, the World Health Organization changed all the codes we, health-care providers, need to use to identify diagnoses with insurance billing. They did so to make the diagnoses more specific. In fact, they added 124, 000 new codes. One of them is code "V97.33XD: Sucked into jet engine, subsequent encounter." Who on earth get sucked into a jet engine more than once? Lol. Myriam Desrosiers, LMT - Therapeutic Massage
Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 I had some free time today so I got a massage.
After today's session, I know I will be sore tomorrow and it's ok, but I wanted to share why it is that sometimes, we get sore after a session and also what you can do to minimize the after effects post massage. When you get a relaxation massage, the chances of feeling sore the next day aren't as high as if you get a deeper therapeutic one. It's very much like doing a workout. The harder the workout, the more tired you will feel. Also, if the muscles aren't used to massage, they often respond with more soreness. Like exercising, after a few sessions, your muscles will get use to it and won't be as sore. The soreness shouldn't last much more than one or two days. If it lasts longer, the therapist should adjust his/her pressure the next time you see him/her. So what can you do to minimize these painful side effects? First, it's important to communicate with your massage therapist during the session regarding your expectations, the pressure, as well as if somethings does not feel right. Drink a lot of water immediately following your treatment and throughout the day. This will rehydrate your tissues and help flush the toxins out of your body. Rest. Go home, relax . Your muscles have just been worked, just like an intense workout. Now is the time to recover. Ice. Just like after exercising, icing is recommended to lessen the immediate soreness. The cold should help to reduce the pain by numbing the area. Take a bath and add some Epsom salts. The salts will get absorbed through your skin and help relax your muscles by flushing lactic acid buildup. Magnesium is also known to have an important role in the absorption of vitamins. It also helps regulate muscle and nerve function therefore has an effet on muscle stiffness. Myriam Desrosiers, LMT - Therapeutic Massage Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 I have a great gift idea for you that will certainly make anyone on your list happy. How about a massage gift certificate with a handmade neck wrap filled with flax seeds. You could also add a bottle of essential oil of your choosing to go with it. Happy Holidays!!! Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 Massage has a whole lot of benefits as we all know, but there are times when getting one is not quite the right choice. Certain conditions contraindicate massage, either because of the risk it may pose to the client or to the therapist. As we enter the cold and flu season, this is a time when us, therapists might decline to see you if you have a cold, flu, or other contagious infection. First, because we don't want to catch it and most importantly because we don't want to risk passing the infection to our other clients. It is also important to know that when you have an infection, your body is already working hard to fight it and recover. A massage can be very demanding internally to your body during a time when you should be simply resting. Myriam Desrosiers, LMT - Therapeutic Massage Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 Last week, I mentioned the importance and benefits of self-massage. I recently discovered another great self-massage tool, the massage block. This is a pretty new product and my clients and I love it. Check it out: www.massageblock.com You can order yours through me also. Myriam Desrosiers, LMT - Therapeutic Massage Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 Not everybody can afford seeing a massage therapist every week, therefore the importance of self-massage. Self-massage allows you to have a massage daily or whenever you like. It consists of applying deep pressure on a specific trigger point* or tight muscle which then helps breaking up adhesions and decreasing muscle tensions. One of my favorite self-massage tool, is the lacrosse ball. It is really inexpensive and you can have it with you wherever you go. It is the perfect shape and size to reach those harder-to-reach muscles. Below are a few ways you can use the lacrosse ball. I recommend holding the pressure up to 60 seconds. Shoulder stress relief: Almost everyone experiences shoulder pain at some point. This will help you releasing tensions between your shoulder blades. Stand tall with your back close to a wall. Allow the ball to rest between you and the wall, position the ball directly over the stressed area. Press your back into the wall. You can rest the ball over the area or perform small circular motions until you start to feel relief. Tight hips loosening: Lie on your side and place the ball under your hip. If your muscles are too tight, stand up, place the tight hip closest to the wall, and place the ball over the tight area. Begin moving your hips around to massage and release tension in the area. Buttock pain relief: In a standing position, rest the lacrosse ball between your glute and a wall with the ball directly over the area you are experiencing pain. Press your buttocks into the wall and begin performing circular motions in and around the area, massaging away the tightness. Sore feet: Place the lacrosse ball under the arch of your bare foot and begin rolling over it. This is especially good for people suffering from plantar fasciitis. You may consider having a ball in the freezer also and use it to massage your feet. Lacrosse balls can be found in most sporting good stores and I also have a few in my office also. *Trigger points are hyper irritable spots in the tissues surrounding your muscles. They are characterised by their referral of pain to different parts of the body, particularly when pressure is applied. Myriam Desrosiers, LMT - Therapeutic Massage Lafayette, CO 80026

Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 Did you know that your head weighs about 12 pounds?
On average, smartphone users spend two to four hours per day hunched over their devices. This significant amount of time substantially increases the forces on your cervical spine. At 45 degrees, your head exerts 49 pounds of force, and at 60 degrees, 60 pounds—this is like carrying a child around on your neck for several hours a day. This extra pressure will lead to a loss in the natural curve of the cervical spine and this decrease in curvature may lead to early wear, tear and degeneration which can result in muscle strain, pinched nerves, herniated discs, headaches, ect... Pay attention to your posture! Myriam Desrosiers, LMT - Therapeutic Massage Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 I was reading an article last month on gluteus massage and how many massage therapists are ignoring these important muscles. My brother, who is visiting this week, mentioned that during his last massage session his therapist included the gluts in his session and his reaction was that it felt awkward. In my practice I always include them, unless I am working with a client coming for a headache treatment for example, as I believe a massage wouldn't be complete without them. Let's demystify the subject a little. There are three gluteal muscles - gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus. These three muscles are part of the structure that holds the legs to the pelvis. We use them doing most of our every day movements. They are critical players in posture and gait. They stabilize the pelvis and spine, and creates powerful movements at the hip joint. When tight, they can bring back, hip and knee pain as well as poor balance and sometimes shooting pain down the leg. Therapist shouldn't fear to address the gluteus. There is nothing inappropriate about massaging these powerful important muscles. The payoff is worth it and clients will often be surprised how much the release of the gluteal area brings a positive impact on their well being.
