What once used to be an older person's complaint, is now affecting our younger generation. We spend a lot of our time in front of a computer and on our phone and that is one of the main reason our neck and shoulders are suffering. Other than that, what do you do most of the day? Are you driving, riding a bike, swimming, working in a lab, providing massage treatments? Lots of us spend a big amount of our time with our shoulders rounded forward and it is really important to be aware of it and start working on preventing pain, injuries to happen. Self-massage is a great way of doing so. Here is a great article on neck and shoulder pain that explains anatomy, causes of neck pain, what can be used to alleviate the pain and what can be done to prevent it from coming back. I also love these videos. They help me stay out of pain. Try these exercises, they feel good and could keep you out of pain too. Myriam Desrosiers, LMT, CCT - Therapeutic Massage
Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 A few weeks ago, the inventor of Deep Recovery contacted me to share with me his self-massage tools. I was interested right away as I truly believe that self-care is one of the most important aspect of staying healthy. I often recommend my clients to use Lacrosse balls or foam rollers between our massage therapy sessions. What I like about the Deep Recovery system is the body track and the neck track. It keeps massage balls in place as opposed to having them rolling away. By doing so it prevents injuries and you can get them where you really need them to be. I also like the idea of using different density balls to increase or decrease the pressure to the areas you are working on. When I first received my kit, I experimented with it on my own. Then, I went to the Deep Recovery website and found that the videos were extremely helpful. I found new ways of using massage balls and foam rollers. I will soon have a second kit at my office so I can show how it can help you. Stay tuned for some more articles about how to use the Deep Recovery system. Back Pain Relief, Headache Relief, Sport Massage, Relaxation, Thai Yoga Massage, Corporate Massage Lafayette, CO 80026 No, cupping marks are not bruises. They are not caused by the same mechanism. Bruises appear when the body experiences an injury, a trauma, causing a break of some the blood capillaries. Cupping marks are caused by suction bringing toxins to the surface. The most important difference is that cupping marks do not cause pain. Another question most people ask is: "How long will the marks stay?" The coloring can last from a few hours to a week or longer. The darker the marks, the higher the level of toxins and stagnation is. The darker the marks, the longer it will take for them to disappear. If there are hardly any toxins, the coloring could be just a light pink and is likely to go away within a few hours. The more often someone gets treated, the lighter and lighter the marks will be as the pathogens leave the body. After some time, there will be no marks whatsoever even if more intense suction is performed or a longer treatment is done. Myriam Desrosiers, LMT, CCT - Therapeutic Massage
