Massage has a whole lot of benefits as we all know, but there are times when getting one is not quite the right choice. Certain conditions contraindicate massage, either because of the risk it may pose to the client or to the therapist.
As we enter the cold and flu season, this is a time when us, therapists might decline to see you if you have a cold, flu, or other contagious infection. First, because we don't want to catch it and most importantly because we don't want to risk passing the infection to our other clients.
It is also important to know that when you have an infection, your body is already working hard to fight it and recover. A massage can be very demanding internally to your body during a time when you should be simply resting.
